Making the Most of Winter Listing Photos
While we don’t typically receive a lot of snow, the current weather and the chance of more next week means some listings may be photographed in winter conditions. With proper preparation, snowy homes can still look bright, clean, and inviting.
Before the Shoot
Clear walkways, driveways, and entry areas.
Remove snow piles, shovels, salt buckets, and trash bins from view.
Turn on exterior lights to add warmth and contrast.
Open blinds and curtains to maximize natural light on overcast days.
Turn on all interior lights to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Keep décor simple and neutral (avoid heavy holiday decorations)
Why Snow Can Work to Your Advantage
A fresh, undisturbed snowfall can instantly elevate curb appeal, creating a picturesque “winter wonderland” look that feels charming, clean, and memorable.
Snow naturally covers imperfect landscaping, patchy grass, mulch beds, worn areas, and misplaced toys, creating a cleaner and more uniform look.
Overcast winter skies act as soft, natural light, reducing harsh shadows and providing ideal conditions for balanced exterior photos, making them perfect for sky replacements and virtual twilight effects.
Golden hour in winter offers warm, low-angled light at sunrise and sunset that makes snow-covered exteriors appear vibrant and inviting.
If conditions are messy (slush, mud, patchy snow), we can even edit the images to reflect freshly fallen snow.
